Today we are going to visit Washington DC.  Very nice sunset back last August, with clouds moving in dramatic formations and sun playing with colors on them as some type of fluid giant canvas. As always if you want to see this photo in higher resolution then just click on it and it will take you to my photo gallery where you can get it with resolution good for desktop computer.

Have a good start to another week everyone! March is around the corner.

THANKS 2012!

First I want to thank you all who have stopped by my blog in 2012! I hope you enjoyed my photography and I hope you will be back in 2013! I wish you all good luck, happiness, good health and prosperity in the new year!

DC SHORT

The short time lapses in this video and associated photos were taken over three different days, on different visits to DC. I’ll try to continue making additional short DC time lapses and maybe get all four seasons shown in one short movie, but we’ll have to wait for that at least another six month.

Early Fall in DC

With a few more weeks of winter left on the calendar I want to share some green colors we are going to see in just about two plus month from now. Back in early fall I was walking around the National Mall and saw this view off Washington Memorial with some early leaves on the ground. I was hoping to get back to the same spot a few weeks later and see how it looked with those trees getting some colors, but it never happened. Maybe some other year.

Almost

About five minutes after taking this photo, I was on the other side of the monument walking back to the Lincoln memorial, I heard the familiar sound of helicopters. Everyone else heard it too and then we saw three helicopters approaching from the south towards the White House. Presidential helicopters. They approached quickly, passed over our heads and then one of them took to the left, another to the right, but one slowly descended at the lawn in front of the White House. Everyone was watching. Everyone was trying to get a glimpse of who is going to come out from it. Too far. From where we were you can’t see any detail all the way at the White House. Still, everyone was looking in the same direction. Some had cameras out trying to zoom in. Too far.

You know what I was thinking? – Damn, I wish I was still back at that spot where I was five minutes ago.

Cherry Blossoms

This year, finally, I managed to take some pictures of the famous DC Cherry Blossoms. I landed in DCA at around 6:15AM and on my way to work stopped by the Tidal Basin and took a few sunrise photos. A few of them turned out pretty good, I like them a lot. It was actually fairly cold, near freezing and super windy, not the most pleasant time to scroll around and take photos. I only spent there around 45 minutes before sun got up and I had to leave for 9AM meeting in downtown DC. There was a good number of people there taking pictures, a lot of folks with tripods, wedding photography with brides half naked in cold trying to put natural smiles, students working on their art projects and some folks are just enjoying the scene. Well, since you were not there, here is a bit of magic for you to enjoy.
