Winter Magic

Winter Olympics is finally here and I’ll probably spend whatever free time I have watching all the different events. Slope Style snowboarding was pretty cool and delivered us the first gold medal. Good job and for many more to go!

Since a lot of the winter Olympics happens in the snowy cold mountains I felt like sharing one of such photos. This one was taken nowhere near Sochi. I took pretty much exactly two years ago while snowboarding on the Mt Hood. It is really cool place to be, especially if you can spend some time at the Timberline Lodge.

Friday Mystery Photo

Last Friday of the month and last day of the month, Spring is coming to an end and we are bridging into the Summer (it was pretty hot yesterday…), so the bridge photo felt like an appropriate subject for today. Of course it happened that I had one ready, so it made it easy.

I took a few attempts at taking this photo, for some reason cars were coming from no where and I had to get out of their way, how annoying of them to do that!

Would you like some clues? Well, here is one, this bridge is between two different legal territories…I think that is a broad enough statement that covers countries, provinces, republics, states, counties, pueblos or whatever else can be considered as one. More clues? Nuh, one is probably enough… Have you been there?

Saturday Update: Thanks all for stopping by and trying to identify the place. This week we have only a single winner of the mystery photo, she first identified the general location and then provided exact location, check her cool blog at The Perpetual Vagabond!

Canyon Way

Driving HW 30 from Portland towards the Hood River and then onto The Dalles is one of the must drives in Oregon. The scenery is unbelievable. Ever changing landscape with multiple views over the Columbia river are spectacular. One of the most remarkable things about this drive is the dramatic change from a rain forest environment on the west side to almost desert like to the east, and this change happens over maybe just 20 miles. You drive through some forests with huge trees and then suddenly they all gone and it is getting really hot, with naked yellow fields burned by the sun. This canyon is midway between the Hood River and The Dalles, great views, especially when you stand there in person.

Newport Bridge

You didn’t think I ‘d stop posting photos with bridges? I thought I was. But then last night I was drinking Dead Guy Ale and Oregasmic Ale and it got me thinking about where this beer was made, specifically about Newport Oregon. We were there almost two years ago and I thought I did take some photos and there were some bridges, so I checked my archives and yes I remembered it right. Somewhat overcast and grey, but it is typical in that part of the world, if you go there it is what you probably gonna see. Very opposite to yesterday, South Carolina can probably boast about 250-300 days per year with perfectly blue skies.

Portland

I hope everyone is happy back at work, rested and energized for many weeks of none stop work. I have no vacation plans at least till April, whole three month. I might try to manage some weekend side little trips, but never know about it.

This is Portland Oregon, as you can read on that sign, cool city that I like to visit when I go to the North West US. Great food with some good local breweries, in fact Oregon has a few of my currently most favorite brews. I’ve drinking lately mostly this cool ale – Oregasmic Ale by Rouge, name speaks for itself, hehe.
