Frankfurt

My flight had about 8 hours layover at the Frankfurt airport on my way to Almaty Kazakhstan and I decided to sleep in normal bed and not at the airport, so I did a quick overnight stop over at the downtown Marriott, where they put on the top floor with this view. I grabbed some food at the lounge and took a few photos off midnight city. The cool part about lounges at the European hotels is that they stack them with free beer, not some “bud-miller-light” crap, but in this case good German beer. None of the US hotels give you free beer at the lounge, it is the same price as at the bar. Seems like they take better care of the business travelers in Europe.

Rhine Flying Skeleton

We were taking a boat tour on the Rhine, taking in some sites and observing surroundings. I saw this skeleton dude on the move. He flies and surfs the waters on the Rhine river. I think he was ready to jump to one of the bridges in Cologne and I captured him with perfect timing.  I wonder if  he is still around.

In Bruges

Yes, just like that movie. No, we didn’t have a shoot out and no one died. Bruges was really nice, very quaint and peaceful. Perfect tourist town. A lot to see, easy to get to it via rail and very good food. I had the best mussels in Bruges.  Yes, I tried them other places before and I tried them in many more places after Bruges. No one can compare to the quality of the mussels we had in Bruges. And they eat French fries with mayonnaise, how awesome is that? I loved it. No stinking ketchup. French fries and mayonnaise is perfect marriage of two. The mussels choices were multiple, I think they had at least a dozen different sauces to choose from. For 11-12 Euros you get a huge pot of it and the beer, the Belgium beer does not require any praise, it is one of the best.

I thought this looked cool while passing it by. Very old and somewhat midevilish, if you replace all the modern parts out, haha.  I even printed this picture on fabric paper and it hangs at my house. It looks awesome.
