Monterey Sunrise

Photomatix 5.0

If you are into doing HDR photography then make sure to get the latest version of the Photomatix software. They just released version 5.0 and it has some nice new features and great improvements in image quality. I was really struggling with prior version of the software on the following image, it looked like crap, no matter what I tried to do with it. With new version they have a new mode, they call it “Balanced” and it really makes some wonders. I was much happier with how it turned out on this photo.

In Pacific Grove

If you look on the right side under categories, you’ll find a few other images from this area. California’s coast line is beautiful, no matter where you go and Pacific Grove in Monterey is no exception.

As always on all of my photos on this blog, if you want to see it in higher resolution, all you have to do is click on the image and it will open in my photo gallery.

Friday Mystery Photo

I can’t come up with any clues on this one, as I feel it will immediately give it away. Just that it was a nice sunrise, well it is a clue, maybe. I never really analyzed it close enough, but is it always clear when you look at the photo to know if it is a sunrise or sunset? I mean if you don’t tell the viewer what it is and there are no distinguished landmarks to identify East from West, can you tell for sure if it is sunrise or sunset…probably not all the time, what do you think? and yea, where the heck is this place?

Sunrise Lily

Before posting this photo I realized that this is the first photo from the Monterey/Pacific Grove area that I’ll be sharing. We were there in early April. Sometime it takes a while to get to some of the photo galleries and process some photos in it.

Sunrise at Pacific Grove Marine Gardens Park was pretty nice, a few things were blooming and there were some interesting shaped trees (another photo is coming in the next few weeks). Those are what appeared to me like wild growing lilies, surviving on the side of the little cliff. Nice site for sure.
