South Arapahoe Peak

Looking north from the South Arapahoe Peak, 13,400″ high. Right in front of us is the Arapahoe Glacier. This is where we get our drinking water in Boulder. Boulder actually owns this Glacier. Water is scarce in the front range, owning your own Glacier does help with securing its supply.

This is looking east from the same spot. Those lakes below get their water from the Arapahoe Glacier and this is where one of the branches of the Boulder Creek finds it start.

Owning a glacier would be a great thing in the West. That is the first I had heard of it. We once had the chance to buy a business just across the border in New Mexico that had two wells producing far more water than they needed. For various reasons, we decided it was not a fit for us, but looking back, owning that water would have been much more of an asset than I realized at the time.

Water is levensbelangrijk en dat zal nog toenemen in de toekomst.En die gletcher is er geen gevaar bij dat die gaat smelten
