It is somewhere warm so palm trees can grow and where some big ships can come, and if they happen to be enemy ships, they could be destroyed by canon balls shooting from the walls of this fort. Soo, my distinguished world travelers and search gurus, where is this place?
Update… There were a lot of guesses and half of them were just on the spot – St. Augustine, Florida. But looking through your comments, you brought up so many places that I have yet to visit. Better get some vacation soon and book some tickets, as your destinations look pretty nice:

Another great Friday special……I guess (and it is a guess) the Suez Canal, Egypt though I have no idea of the name of the Fort. But probably wrong as the canal was built long after the Fort which appears very old.

Sorry to disagree, but the city of Elche (Alicante, Spain) has the biggest palm tree grove in Europe, recognized by UNESCO as part of World Heritage. They are date palms, not like the ones in the picture, but there are some of those too. And well, they are mostly concentrated in the Southeast, if you visit the North of Spain probably you won’t see any. So, nothing pillocky in your first guess 😉

I’d guess at it being a carribean fort but it could be anywhere in the mediteranean too.
This looks like a fort I visited in Galle, Sri Lanka. Didn’t get time to walk all of it, but the architecture is distinctive. I would guess Dutch, since it was a Dutch Colony before the English (preceded by the Portuguese). Architecture is right, stone is right and setting appears right. I’ll go for Galle, Sri Lanka.

My honest opinion dmitrii, It’s not your best. I’ve seen images which are far more fabulous than this one from you. The tones on the trees and the tower are not quite right. And the brightness level on the fore ground is not gelling with over all image.

Well I am pretty sure it is Hispanic. There is something very similar in Havana, so I’ll make that my guess.

It’s the Castillo de San Marcos in St Augustine, Florida. I love it there. I live in FL, and we spend at least once a year exploring there. You can just feel the ghosts of generations past walking the streets with you. That’s a great photo of the fort. I have quite of few of them myself, from back in the 35mm film days. Only a few on digital. Love this one though. Wish I could take lessons from you. 🙂

Is this at sunrise or sunset? If it’s sunset, then I don’t think it’s in St. Augustine (the bay faces east). If its sunrise though, it very well could be.
