Back in Seattle

It looks like I’m going back on a business trip to Seattle at the end of January & start of February. It is not the best time to catch perfect weather around those parts, but who knows, it might not rain and we might get some sun. I’ll be pretty busy but might be able to squeeze one or two evenings to go and shoot some photos, weather permitting. Any recommendations on some good areas for Seattle winter photography?

I know there is a spot from a hill in the south east Seattle with very cool view over downtown and highways. I’ll try to get there. Also, I’ve seen nice photos with beautiful views of the TV tower and the Mount Rainier. I might try to get there as well, not sure where exactly to take those photos from. It might be taken from someone’s private balconies, looking at the map, it is all neighborhoody.

This photo was taken from West Seattle, Hamilton Viewpoint park. There is actually a lot of air traffic in the air above Seattle and I had to take a few shots and time it just right between different airplanes and helichopers.

  1. Hi! The spot you’re looking for that is the iconic Seattle shot with downtown and the Space Needle (and the Mountain if you’re lucky) is from Kerry Park on Queen Anne Hill. Here is a link to the location, sorry it’s so long: http://maps.google.com/maps?oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=kerry+park,+queen+anne&fb=1&gl=us&hq=kerry+park,+queen+anne&cid=0,0,3744576093846549902&ei=OTvETpHmGcHliAKZkfzhCw&sa=X&oi=local_result&ct=image&ved=0CBIQ_BI
Between Kerry Park, the bridge you spoke of in the International District and Alki Beach you’ll get all the typical Seattle skyline shots. I hope you enjoy my city 🙂

    1. Hi Stacy, thanks for the link and pointer for this location. I’m hopeful that weather will cooperate with me next time I visit Seattle. Hopefully I’ll be able to post it in early to mid Fedruary.
