“Travel Photography” is my first Windows 8 application, currently available in the App Store. You can find it under “Photo” category or if you search for terms like “Travel”, “Travel Photography” or “HDR”, it will come up in the results list. This app allows you to see my blog posts independently from the browser.
This app is not a replacement of the web based blog, as my blog shows my entire collection of posts and you can look at them by different categories. But this app has couple features that I cannot make available via the blog.
One thing that you do not see on my blog is the exact location of the photo. “Travel Photography” app has now integration with BING Maps and it will show the exact location where I took this photo. Do you want to go and see the exact same view? Now you’ll know where it is. The “Friday Mystery Photo” location will be shown in the app on Saturday… And BTW, if you wondering how I make my photos to know where they were taken, I use my own “Map My Photo Pro” application to tag each photo with precise location.
I also compiled 60+ most visited and commented on photos and showed them in a gallery view. So anyone can flip through and enjoy them. If you touch (click) the name at the bottom of each photo, it will take you directly to the original post on my blog.
I’m thinking of some other features that I can add to it. If you have some suggestions, please leave a comment here and I’ll see if that is something I can do.
This app is free.
So if you are running Windows 8 then I encourage you to install it and give it a try. Here is the link to install this app: http://apps.microsoft.com/webpdp/app/travel-photography/255d2686-65e5-43e6-898e-8349a55af231
